Can you hear this portrait?

This sonorous sea lion portrait is of a former patient at The Marine Mammal Center appropriately named Quack. This yearling sea lion was loud and insane, a real quack in every sense of the word. But he also knew how to strike a pose, and as soon as I snapped a photo of him bellowing his little heart out, I knew I needed to woodburn his portrait. This piece combines two of my favorite things; a sassy sea lion and some peace and quiet. Usually those two things do not go hand in hand, but that’s the beauty of art, we can create our own desired reality! If you’ve ever worked with sea lions or seen them in the wild, you know they are raucous, but now you can enjoy that personality in your own home without the need for ear protection.
