Sometimes inspiration hits you like a freight train, and sometimes it comes in bits and pieces, and it feels like my job as an artist to figure out how to put them all together.

The very first linoprint I ever made was a humpback whale swimming under the waves, but seeing as it was my first piece, it was understandably not very good. Ever since, I knew I wanted to make a proper humpback whale print to do them more justice than my first attempt. I also knew I wanted to use this vibrant ultramarine blue ink to highlight the rich underwater lives they live out of view from us humans.

These two bits of inspiration coalesced into this dynamic, vibrant print, perfect for transporting you under the waves to swim with a humpback.
